Lifesaving Techniques Training Courses

CPR and First Aid

The CPR and first aid course teaches essential lifesaving skills, whether you are a medical professional, teacher, lifeguard or other first responder. Students will experience informative lectures and hands-on skills portions throughout this course, which is tailored to suit various learning styles. 

Some specific skills you will learn through this course include:

  • CPR techniques: Anyone can learn proper CPR techniques to save a life. Our instructors will guide you through CPR compressions and breaths for adults, children and infants.
  • First aid: First aid is a necessary skill, especially for those working with children. We will walk you through how to keep a patient stable until the EMS arrives — specifically, slowing bleeding and supporting broken bones.
  • Automated external defibrillator (AED) usage: An AED is a portable device that jumpstarts a person's heart once it has stopped beating. We will teach you how and when to use it and encourage you to know where it is in your work environment.

This CPR and first aid course is available in various formats — classroom, virtual, group or with Smart CPR technology.

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Our Basic Life Support (BLS) certification in Florida is for medical professionals who teach single-rescuer and team CPR techniques. Participants will learn to quickly identify a cardiac emergency and appropriately respond in and out of a hospital setting. This course covers the basics taught in the general CPR course — such as CPR, first aid and AED usage — and adds airway management and choking obstruction.

Lifework Education is proud to offer our proprietary CPR and First Aid certification courses. We are also a national partner and Licensed Training Provider with the American Red Cross (ARC) and operate several American Heart Association (AHA) and Health and Safety Institute (HSI) Training Centers. All resuscitation courses follow the guidelines published by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR).

We offer several professional training programs, including EMT, CNA, Caregiver and Phlebotomy Technician, all of which are approved by the relevant state agencies. Currently, only the paramedic program is included under the ABHES grant of accreditation.

Lifework Education’s paramedic program is accredited by CAAHEP under the recommendation of CoAEMSP and institutionally accredited in Peoria, Arizona, by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
