Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Training
Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) are essential first responders, providing on-site medical care in critical situations. An EMT is responsible for stabilizing patients on the way to a hospital — a job that requires extensive training.
Lifework Education offers a 12-week EMT course, which equips students with essential knowledge and skills as healthcare providers. We will dive into anatomy and physiology, CPR, splinting, bandaging and patient assessment training.

What's the Difference Between an EMT and a Paramedic?
While EMTs and paramedics have similar duties, their careers have distinct purposes. An EMT learns the basics of emergency care outside of an ambulance. EMTs can take additional training to become paramedics and perform more advanced medical procedures in an ambulance, such as administering medication, inserting IV lines and creating advanced airway management.
How Can I Apply for EMT Tuition Reimbursement or Sponsorship?
EMT tuition reimbursements or sponsorships may be available through your workplace. Be sure to ask your employer what options they have available for EMT training.
What Is the EMT Course Supply Fee?
Within the program cost, you will see a $300 supply fee. This cost covers your program materials, including:
- EMT Student uniform shirt
- EMT Student supply kit
- AAOS Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured, 12th Edition
- Blood pressure cuff
- Stethoscope
- CPR Mask
- Pen light
What Final Testing Is Required?
Training graduates must take the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) exam to receive their official EMT certification. This test involves written and practical sections. While you can wait up to two years to take the test, we recommend taking it soon after completing training while the information remains fresh.
You can take the test as many times as needed to pass. If you do not pass within two years, you will need to complete training again.
