The Paramedic Program is a 40 instructional week, high-performance program designed for the EMT who is looking to further their career in EMS. Upon successful completion of this course, graduates are eligible to seek national certification as Paramedics through the National Registry of EMTs and Arizona State Paramedic certification through the Arizona Department of Health Services.

To prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Emergency Medical Responder levels.

- 18 years of age or older
- Photo ID
- Current EMT certification (AZ, NREMT, or valid other state)
- High School Diploma/GED/or equivalent
- Proof of 9th grade reading competency
- Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR certification
- Students enrolling must attest that they are physically able to perform the required functions for successful completion of the program. This includes sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, and lifting 50 lbs.

Required to start Clinical rotations and must be valid for the duration of Clinical and Vehicular rotations:
- Pass the background check through Banner Health
- Pass a 10 panel drug screen
- Negative TB test within the last 12 months
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers CPR certification
- Seasonal flu vaccination
- Proof of Immunity to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) - vaccination or titer test showing immunity
- Hepatitis B vaccination series (or signed declination)
- Tdap within the last 10 years

The comprehensive Paramedic program spans over a course of 10 months, with classes held twice a week.

CAAHEP Accredited Paramedic Programs and CoAEMSP Letter of Review (LoR) Programs track and report outcome measures annually to the Committee on Accreditation for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).
- The most current CoAEMSP Annual Report was for the calendar year 2021.
- The most recent success rate for the National Registry of EMT Paramedic/State Cognitive exam was 82.4%.
- The most recent positive placement rate for graduates was 88.2%.
- Positive placement is defined by the CoAEMSP as ‘Employed full or part-time in a related field and/or continuing his/her education and/or serving in the military.
- Positive placement is measured at completion of the program.
- The most recent retention rate was 89.5%

Approvals
Lifework is proud to offer our proprietary CPR and First Aid certification courses. We are also a national partner and Licensed Training Provider with the American Red Cross (ARC), and operate several American Heart Association (AHA) and Health and Safety Institute (HSI) Training Centers. All resuscitation courses follow the guidelines published by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR).
We offer several professional training programs, including EMT, CNA, Caregiver, and phlebotomy, all of which are approved by the relevant state agencies. Currently, only the paramedic program is included under the ABHES grant of accreditation.
Lifework’s paramedic program is accredited by CAAHEP under the recommendation of CoAEMSP and institutionally accredited in Peoria, Arizona, by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
